In a descriptive pamphlet for a thermoactive smoothing procedure.
"Après l’opération, le cheveu devient doux, soyeux, brillant, gainé."

The treatment involves applying a keratin based solution and using straighteners (if that is at all helpful or relevant)

I'm only familiar with the word gaine in the context of electrical conduit and my Larousse cannot help me in this context.

it has to be worked into the sentence, of course, i.e. giving it a protective film or something like that

...devient doux, soyeux, brillant, gainé.

so the hair becomes/is soft, smooth, shiny and strong.

(you could throw in "silky" as well!)

It's strong because of the protective sheath or film but I would work this part in elsewhere when describing the Keratin treatment. You could also use the word

SEALED

for this as the treatment seals in colour, condition and smoothness
