Is this simply "determiner" here?

"Les travaux académiques entrepris dans le domaine du reporting social sont passés par deux étapes majeures. Après une phase « descriptive » ou les auteurs se sont focalisés sur l’examen et l’analyse des informations diffusées par les entreprises, une deuxième phase « explicative » a émergée. Cette dernière s’attache à identifier les raisons – ou déterminants – qui incitent les entreprises à procéder à la divulgation volontaire d’informations sociétales. Cette deuxième étape a donné lieu à une profusion d’études et de recherches académiques, elle a également généré l’un des débats les plus intéressants mais néanmoins extrêmement délicats sur le sujet."
