This was already discussed a few weeks ago and "candidat" corresponds to a level below "doctor". It must be mentioned.

I guess the "candidat" was anglicized into "candidate".
I totally agree with Sue"s answer:

For Belgium, the title is "candidat", the degree is a "candidature" - first level uni degree after 2-3 years study (1er cycle)

It sounds like this is the text of a diploma, rather than of a letter of admission to medical school. If so, I think that *Candidat* can be left untranslated.

Dr Sue Levy: "candidat" is the title you get when you complete a "candidature". See Belgian system. A doctoral candidate (your links) gets a doctoral degree (doctorate) and the title "doctor".
