agree  Drmanu49: I understand what you mean and I agree with you. A degree is awarded. What I am speaking about is the right to use this degree from one country to the next where it doesn't exist as such, hence certification, a word we commonly use.

-> You can't really adopt these to target country.the French has to stay and you give a translation to reflect it.you can't replace a degree by a certificate.it's a legal medical degree-very Belgian term (now obsolete).Europe will soon all have same system.

neutral  writeaway: seems that you don't think they award degrees here in Belgium. only certifications. this is a degree as it would be in France or in Togo. ;-) ./it's a legal degree. a legal degree. the person get a legal degree in Medecine, even here in Belgium.
2 hrs
-> Certification is based on a degree or is a degree too. I have nothing against legal degree which has for meaning certification!

neutral  Dr Sue Levy: the mention of medicine, surgery and obstetrics does not indicate certification to specialise in these disciplines - my med degree is Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery - nothing to do with specialisation//yes, in Belgium
11 hrs
-> OK Sue, but have you ever heard of a "legal degree in surgery and delivery"?
