French term or phrase: Ce qui est intéressant pour l’enseignant...
Ce qui est intéressant pour l’enseignant, c’est de mesurer les résultats de ses élèves pour évaluer ses propres performances, pas celles de son prédécesseur.

I'm not sure how to translate this sentence as I can't work out who the pronouns belong to. Does it mean the pupil's performance and not their predecessors (also pupils) or does it mean the teacher's teaching performance and not that of the teacher's predecessor? Thank you for any help clearing this up.

This is how I understand it:
By measuring students' performance, the teacher can evaluate his own performance (and not rely on past grades or student results which would only reflect the previous teacher's work/competence).
