French term or phrase: action de médiation
Taken from the pricing information for a castle in France.

Maybe I'm tired, but I thought mediation was arbitration/resolving conflicts (!). This seems more along the lines of educational programmes.
TIA for any suggestions.

facilitation initiative/programme
Explanation:

Alain's answer was very natural-sounding, but in the end I gave points to Euqinimod for the very helpful explanation. I agree with gad that faciliation sounds a bit odd, but new buzzwords generally do. What I think is important here is that mediation involves more than guiding. Thanks very much to everyone for your help.

using the services of guides/staff

Explanation:
Seems to be a new-fangled way of saying 'guide' (but including everyone who may 'welcome' visitors.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Interesting, the English version of that site calls them the "facilitation team".

agree  gad: to the Asker: the English version of that site is not necessarily correct. The term "faciliation team" doesn't sound so natural in English. // to Alain: this sounds like a good option here.:)

mediation [in the learning experience]

Explanation:
Well, there certainly are a lot of refs. in relation to "mediation learning experience", though I don't know if it's exactly what you need.

In this context it seems to mean that there is no "set piece" to teach visitors/pupils when they go to a museum/cultural centre...rather the learning is done "on the spot" whereby teachers and pupils exchange ideas etc. based on questions/interest etc. So it is an un-planned session, by all accounts.. {Could be interesting??}

"Mediator" is in fashion too!

Face au public : techniques de médiation
Cran-Gevrier, les 17, 18 et 19 janvier 2006
Stage
