French term or phrase: [admission] sur dossier
Admission

En première année.....

En troisième année sur dossier et entretiens pour les candidats titulaires d'un Bac+2 dans le domaine de la gestion

So, as I understand it, it means there's no concours or specific, set-in-stone criteria, but rather they look at each application, and also conduct interviews. But I'm not sure how best to translate this. "by dossier"? "by application"? Or is it referring to a "dossier academique", ie, a student/academic record?

on the basis of written application
Explanation:
So-called parallel entrance students fill in a detailed application form which provides all the relevant information concerning their academic background. They are then selected from these applications and called in for interview for the final selection (these interviews are now in progress for the new academic year - they take place in June and September). The system is obviously different from the UK or the US but the wording would correspond to the links below as basically you send all the information as an application or 'dossier'. You wouldn't need to add anything else as the rest is understood.

application

Explanation:
on completion of an application which includes proof of your academic qualifications

This link may be typical - but shows that you have to prove your academic record to circumvent the 'concours'.

Explanation:
I think it might just be according to the education background (or application) one has received, which cannot be called a CV since it is not related to a working experience.
