Under "Résultats" on French university student's transcript.

"Ajourné," as opposed to "Admis."

Does this mean the student has an "incomplete," or that he "dropped" the course? Or simply that the course was "adjourned?"

I quote the following from earlier Proz-kudoz:
"A candidate who has failed to fulfill the requirements given in Section 8.1 shall be referred in that examination. A referred candidate shall sit for failed course/s (all ‘D’ and ‘F’ grades) and pass those courses subject to relevant restrictions given in Section 12."

Tout étudiant dont la moyenne générale est supérieure ou égale à 10/20 est admis. Tout étudiant dont la moyenne générale est inférieure à 8/20 est ajourné.
Article 8
L'étudiant dont la moyenne générale, après délibération, se situe entre 8/20 et 10/20 est autorisé à passer à nouveau une épreuve. A l'issu de cette épreuve de rattrapage, si sa moyenne générale est supérieure ou égale à 10/20, il est déclaré admis; si elle est inférieure à 10/20, il est ajourné.
Article 9
Nul ne peut être autorisé à redoubler plus d'une fois chaque année d'enseignement. En Troisième année, le candidat est admis ou ajourné définitivement.
