IMO, once the teaching assignment is set up, the software generates the corresponding travel order, work order (or whatever "ordre de mission" refers to in this context).

"Vacation" is a term widely-used in teaching, and can correspond to many different types of assignment; basically the common point is the lack of any job security. The term can refer to an assignment by-the-hour, but also be week-long, month-long, year-long . (I was a 10-month-a-year "vacataire" with a full course-load for a good many years.)

It is now generally used to refer to an assignment done by a person under contract with one employer, who is called upon by another institution to take on extra hours or do highly specialized teaching.
