French to English translations [PRO] Social Sciences - Education / Pedagogy | | French term or phrase: Bibliothèque Centre Documentaire | In a school report card on the list of the pupil's reading/writing abilities:
* Maîtriser la technique de la lecture
* Trouver un livre en BCD
....
Is there any way I can say this in English, or should I just stay with the French acronym? I *hope* it's Bibliothèque Centre Documentaire, but I am not 100% sure. |

| | School library | Explanation: I think you are right with BCD meaning "Biblioteque/Centre Documentaire", see the definition below:
"Bibliothèque - centre documentaire, n. f.
Abréviation : BCD, n. f.
Domaine : Éducation/ Structures/ Documentation.
Définition : Dans une école maternelle ou élémentaire, structure destinée à favoriser l’apprentissage et le goût de la lecture ainsi que la recherche de document.
Note : La bibliothèque-centre documentaire est un moyen pédagogique qui facilite l’autonomie de l’enfant et l’ouverture de l’école sur son environnement."
I wouldn't leave it in French, however - I would use "school library" as presumably the skill which this is measuring is the child's ability to use the classification system in the school library to find the book they need. |
