Explanation:
I'm pretty sure it's a literal translation here. They use mechanical babies in health class to teach kids what it's like to be parents.
The dolls run on batteries and they cry like real babies until you hold them and take care of them properly, etc.

agree  Mike Sadler: When I was in education we called them by the trade name, "Real Baby" (in the UK) so to avoid that I go with Sarita's suggestion.
