Reasonable negotiation

Explanation:
Means "doing what is reasonable in the circumstances in order to negotiate and reach an agreement". Being fair, acting in good faith.

disagree  Marlena Dobosz: The meaning proposed does not correspond to the meaning of the source term. It's not about being fair but about mutual gains.

disagree  writeaway: this is easy but not this easy. as so often, beware of a lurking faux ami
1 hr

disagree  Nikki Scott-Despaigne: "raisonnée" = based or founded on reason, something which has been thought through, worked out, based on logical reason, reasoning. It implies, evidence, proof.

négociation raisonnée
principled negotiation

Explanation:
"Principled negotiation is a problem solving, win/win approach to negotiation [...]" http://www.marcbowles.com/courses/adv_dip/module2/module9/m9...

In fact, there are several synonyms to transmit the meaning of "négociation raisonnée". "It is known by many names and practiced in many variations and settings: Win-Win Bargaining, Mutual Gains, Principled or Interest-Based Negotiations, Interest-Based Problem Solving, Best Practice or Integrative Bargaining. Some of the variations utilize different steps and techniques, which can alter and affect outcomes. However, no matter which variation is used, the Interest-based Bargaining concept is constant." http://www.usfa.fema.gov/pdf/efop/efo30461.pdf [Keep in mind that it's an American source] The choice of the best equivalent depends on the content of the course: Intitulé des séquences... le stagiaire sera capable de... Contenu de la formation....

Teaching and Learning Using Evidence-Based Principles

Abstract
In this chapter, we present several cognitive learning theories relevant for novice, expert, and advanced learning, and discuss their implications for the instructional design and delivery of university management courses. We describe how evidence-based instructional strategies can be derived from cognitive learning theories, and then we apply the strategies to commonly used teaching practices in management courses. We also address a number of challenges that we believe have impeded evidence-based teaching practice."

"The 2007–08 AAUW Campus Action Project (CAP) team from Clarkson University used their grant money to empower women students to learn and use evidence-based negotiation strategies and techniques in professional and work situations and to provide a safe space for women to learn to participate actively in negotiations."

My suggestion being based on vague knowledge/understandin of "culture raisonnée" in relation to vines and "evidence-based medicine".

Some French sources you may wish to consult and compare :-

http://www.negociation-raisonnee.com/pdf/ECP_invit_22mars-17...

http://www.comedie.org/pdf/note_negociationraisonnee.pdf
(where 'principled negotation' is given for an Egnlish rendering)

http://perspective.usherbrooke.ca/bilan/servlet/BMDictionnai...

Again, the list could go on for some time as it depends, as always, on context. I'll leave you to root around and see if the way the term is used in your original context fits my suggestion!

neutral  Nikki Scott-Despaigne: I came across "reasoned" a couple of times too, but more often in non native sources. The Harvard system is also referred to as "principled negotiation".

-> Yes, am also wary of non-native links! Principled" also exists of course but not quite as common as "reasoned" imo
