Perhaps, as added by Demosthene, if it is \"seconde\", could it be a reference to being admitted to second grade or perhaps secondary 2.

agree  Anthony Chalkley: Seconde générale is the first year in what approximates to US High School (a three year course) - the alternatives would be BEP or CAP, both in technical schools
