French to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Electronics / Elect Eng / Electricity (Belgian)
French term or phrase: MDP
This is taken from a Belgian tender specification for an electrical installation. Part of the service to be provided includes:
"la connexion depuis la cabine HT vers le TGBT/MDP1 'Normal' et le TGBT/MDP2 'Normal/Secours'".
I do not understand the meaning of MDP here in relation to "tableau général basse tension" (no relevant Google hits either).
Any ideas anyone?

Explanation:
I've a sneaking feeling that this is already English, and is in fact Mains Distribution Panel, i.e. the translation of TGBT.

In fact, I've also a sneaking feeling that this may well be a term that I invented myself a few years back! If not, then it's a case of "great minds thinking alike" (or someone referring to one of my translated documents)

I'm sorry, for the moment I can't come up with any references to back this up, but I'll have a go and see if I can find something; the document in question is long gone from my archives...

The term certainly gets quite a few Googles (> 500) in English as Main Distribution Panel...

One of several references to it in French in connection with \'clean\' power generation, but I don\'t think this is relevant here, given the way it is used in your context:

Effet de serre que peut-on faire?

MDE : Maîtrise de la Demande d\'Electricité.
MDP : Mécanisme de Développement Propre.
MIES : Mission Interministérielle sur l\'Effet de Serre ...

Thanks - I'll leave MDP as your original suggestion has probably hit the nail on the head.
