French to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Electronics / Elect Eng / Electrical redundancy | | French term or phrase: redondante à équilibrage de charge | I know that this is to do with electrical redundancy, but don't know enough about it to know exactly what this techical term means...below is the only context I have (from an otherwise fairly general document)...

| | | load-balancing redundant power supply (PSU) | Explanation: I personally would prefer this word order.
I think this is probably one of those dual PSUs where both halves are normally used together, sharing the load, but if either half fails, the other half takes over at 100%. This is better than having 1 PSU working all the time and the other not, since just when you need it, you may find it doesn't work! And 1 PSU wears out before the other.
I can't help wondering if it isn't in fact 'load-sharing', but can't provide any evidence to corroborate that. |

Asker: Thanks Dusty - sometimes I don't know what I would do without you. I mean, I'd probably get there in the end, but it would take me SO much longer. How's the draughty old castle going?!

Liz
