Tech/Engineering - Electronics / Elect Eng / magnetization | | French term or phrase: Banc à décharge de condensateurs | I think these are 'energy dissipation units for capacitors' but wondered if someone could confirm this as I am not 100% sure. It is taken from a short marketing piece about magnetization, without further context that what I have below:

Although I am not specifically familair with this field, I think in this case the literal translation is the right one.
'energy dissipation unit' gets fewer Googles, and seemingly mainly in the field of electric traction; obviously the capacitor discharge bank MIGHT be one form of 'energy dissipation unit' — but in fact, I think in your application it is being used slightly differently, i.e. not as a means of dissipating the energy stored in the capacitors in order to discharge them, but rather, as a way of using the energy stored in the capacitors by discharging them into some desired load. For example, one way of achieving high instantaneous peak currents, as needed for certain magnetization applications....

Note the use of 'à', which to me at least slightly indicates that it if not referring to a bank 'used for' discharging capacitors, but rather, which 'makes use of' capactior discharge. See what I'm driving at? |
