French term or phrase: boîtier de signalisation
Still on my fire detection system manual:

Le boîtier de signalisation permet d’indiquer l’état (AUTO ou MANUEL) de chaque risque, ainsi que le ou les détecteurs en ALERTE dans le faux-plancher.

Signal box just doesn't sound right here. Does anyone have any better suggestions? I think my brain's got the Friday afternoon blues....

status panel / indicator panel
Explanation:
Unless there's any other context this is what I would use for a collection of indicators

Thanks Martin - I think this works well here. Unfortunately I don't have the photos that should go with this text, more's the pity...

indicator unit

Explanation:
Although "boîtier" is literally "box", in practice it is often used more generally just to mean a "unit" or "module"

Again, "signalling" is sometimes appropriate, but in this case, it sounds as if the more general "indicator" would be suitable.

agree  Maureen Wilkins: or possibly alarm panel?
1 min
-> Thanks Maureen. Yes, maybe "alarm panel" would be an option too if it were a completely separate unit.

agree  Tony M: Yes, "status" would be good here; some reservations about "panel", if it might indeed be a sticky-out box?
2 mins
-> Thanks, Tony. I would be confident about using it for boxes, too - see my second example
