French term or phrase: rendement propre

The context is the design of an energy-efficient IT system:
Le choix d’équipements ayant un *rendement propre* supérieur ou égal à 95 %.
I was thinking along the lines of clean efficiency, but I was also wondering if this might be referring to the individual efficiency of the equipment?

Explanation:
I think you're right, I see no real justification here for translating it as 'clean', except on the very tenuous notion that afficiencies as high as 95% might be considered to be 'environmentally friendly' — but if that was the intended meaning, I find this quite an odd way to express it.
