I have never seen "thematic English" in my life.

English Composition is about teaching
students how to write and it does this by sending hopeful students home with subjects to ponder and write about.

Below is a translation of the definition of "thème" from the Hachette 2000 French/French dictionary (the original follows).

So "English Composition" is FINE.

The translation of the French definition of "thème" is "subject, (subject) matter, a proposition that is discuseed in a book or speech. Ex.

Thematic English 105
In the spring, five sections of English 105 (LL, LN, LP, 30 and 34) will focus on writing and reading about Shaping the Family in Non-Fiction, Visual Media, and Literature. Topics that the students might explore in their writing include how the family is represented in different media, how different cultures define the family, and how social issues affect the contemporary family. These sections are open to any students who need to take English 105.

  -> I can't see any "English Composition" on my first reference page. The name of the course is "Thematic English". You can see it above, in my addition. E. Composition is different than "Thematic English", I repeat..

  -> Which link do you mean? I saw one by Francis Marc, which is a Thai university and I'm not wild about the little English I could access. It's no authority for me.
agree  Yolanda Broad: Good footwork! And Jane, too. Obviously, a catalog description or syllabus is required to make the right determination. This is why registrars will not give transfer credit on the basis of a transcript! This is an "ask the client" problem!

English-to-French translation


Explanation:
I always confuse the two BUT in translation thème and version have a specific meaning. It means translating into French from English or Translating into English from French.
version is into English [for a French person]
thème is into French
so Anglais thèmatique in my opinion is English through translation into French which makes sense for an engineers

OR

It would make sense for an engineer to take a course in technical translation from English to French. An engineer needs to understand in French what she/he is reading in English. Composition would be a bit odd, no?

check it out on google with terms; anglais version thème. It\'s usually said as anglais thème not thèmatique. I know because I went to the ESIT translation school and that\'s the term that was used and it is also used for the BAC etc.
