When something electrical (switch, contactor, etc.) is open - it does not conduct (does not pass power or current) and conversely - when closed - it passes current & power. It is somewhat confusing in comparison with fluids - when a valve or a tap or a faucet (robinet) is open - it passes fluid and when closed - it does not.
If you really feel that the extra explanation is needed, add "non conducting". |
