French to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Electronics / Elect Eng / electrical spare parts
French term or phrase: cache néon pharmacie
This is from a website for a ski resort. The management agent sells spare plumbling and electrical parts for people's holiday homes and this is listed under electricity. The list is for household use only. As it is a list. there is no detail. I have a couple of other queries whcih I will itemise separately.
Thanks for any help!

English translation:diffuser for fluorescent fitting (medicine cabinet)
Explanation:
Almost impossible to tell without more information from the customer.

'néon' almost certainly refers to a fluorescent light fitting, or the tube itself

'cache' could be some kind of a panel simply to hide it, but I think it is more likely in fact to be some kind of diffuser for the light (especially since these are the sort of things likely to need replacing!)

In a domestic context, 'pharmacie' usually refers to some kind of medicine cabinet — often included with a mirror in a bathroom, hence perhaps the need for a light...

However, all this can only be (informed) speculation, since we really don't have enough information to go on; in particular, it seems an odd thing to stock as a spare part, unless of course all the apartments are fitted with the same standard medicine cabinet!

agree  Nikki Scott-Despaigne: Makes perfect sense to me, a "cache-néon" for an "armoire à pharmacie". Hyphens are helpful and are fast becoming rare! Could be referring to the fluorescent light fitting close to the cabinet or actually part thereof.

agree  philgoddard: I think it's a panel (try doing Google Images with "cache-néon"), and one term I came up with was "light valance". But this is the right kind of idea.
