Tech/Engineering - Engineering: Industrial / fume treatment centre/furnaces
French term or phrase: changement des feux
From a document about the fume treatment centre of an anode baking furnace.

and:

English translation:fuel change??
Explanation:
Guesswork.

If, like cement kilns, these furnaces can fire a variety of fuels, this may refer to the changeover from one kind of "firing" (fuel) to another. Whether this would require manual intervention to adjust nozzles, pumps, etc. I don't know, but that sort of operation might take the half-hour referred to. I should imagine that the system will take a short time to "acclimatize" to the new fuel which may not be burnt with total efficiency to start with, causing higher emissions levels.
