French to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Engineering: Industrial / Crushing mills | | French term or phrase: écluse alvéolaire | Not much to go on here, I'm afraid - it's from a very brief document advertising a company's attendance at a forthcoming conference. The term appears in a list of equipment:
Un large choix d’équipements
- Broyeurs pendulaires
- Presses à rouleaux
- Broyeurs à percussion
- Broyeurs à broches
- Broyeurs - classificateurs
- Broyeurs - sécheurs
- Pulvériseurs haut rendement

- Tamiseurs rotatifs
My searches have come to nothing. Has anyone any suggestions?
Many thanks! |
| | Clarification request(s) and responseClaire Cox: 11:21pm Mar 19, 2007: I've just realised that I asked a very similar question "sas alvéolaire" a few weeks ago, which gave rise to similar answers. I can only blame short term memory loss.... Actually, this is a totally different field too, but still... What surprises me is that my KudoZ search didn't bring up my previous question and answers. Also I'm still only receiving a fraction of the notifications I should be getting by e-mail, don't know why - only Boekstaaf's answer has come though, so it was a pleasant surprise to find the others when I came to the web page.

| | rotary feeder | Explanation: Sounds as if it might be this, aka a "sas rotatif". You have a pipe conveying loose (granular or powder) material, and at the end a sort of "wheel" comprising a number of buckets between its two flanges. As the wheel turns, it picks up a determined amount of the material and transfers it to a another location (e.g. a bag).

So if my "rotary" idea is right, you may be looking at a "rotary valve" or "rotary air lock", otherwise skip the rotary (but support lions and kiwanis and round tables).
