French to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Engineering (general) / Utilities contract | | French term or phrase: travaux de fouille et de remblais | I have translated this term as: 'excavation and backfilling works' but am not sure that this is correct. Can anyone make a better suggestion or point me in the right direction? I can provide more context if necessary, but basically it is taken from a contract for the provision of utilities (hot/cold water and compressed air) by the service provider to a manufacturer.
Sont exclues des obligations mises à la charge du PRESTATAIRE au titre du Contrat :
tout ou partie d’équipement non visitable et/ou inaccessible (réseaux et cuves enterrées, canalisation noyées, etc),
les installations de bâtiments, génie civil et les travaux de second œuvre (hors bâtiment chaufferie),
les travaux de fouille et de remblais,
tout équipement non détaillé dans l’annexe 3.
Thanks!

| | Clarification request(s) and responseSusan Pasco: 4:17pm Jan 25, 2006: I think your suggestion of excavation and backfilling is fine :-) - Maria Constant: 4:25pm Jan 25, 2006: As the verb "remblayer" means both backfilling and embanking you might want to use these two terms in your translation. -

| | excavation and backfilling | Explanation: I think you could even leave out the 'work(s)', it is a bit redundant in combination with these 2 words in EN. |
