Tech/Engineering - Engineering (general) / precision machining - metal
French term or phrase: Chassis de machine blindé
Not sure exactly how I should translate 'blindé' here. No further context, as it appears in a list. The machine in question is a machine-tool type machine, used to produce metal parts for various purposes. I think it means the machine chassis is somehow reinforced, covered, protected, armour-plated - or even, according to GDT 'genie mecanique' definition, somehow 'dust-protected'. Could anyone advise me on the most likely meaning in this particular context? Thanks

Why not 're-inforced'?

Explanation:
It seems to me that covers all areas-strengthen, protect etc. I dont think one of the meanings of 'blindé' given in www.WordReference.com would do though-'pissed' !!! -amazing how a single word can have varying interpretations!
