This is talking about making sure that the right electrical power is restored to an industrial device (in this case a turboalternator) after works have been carried out on it...but I just can't think of a good way of putting the very last bit...although I kind of understand the sense of it...any suggestions for a tired brain out there? Thanks!

IOW, if before maintenance an instrument showed that the power output was 33,125.659 kW and the instrument in question is deemed not to be precise to within 5kW, then a post-maintenance reading of 33,125.659 kW - 5kW = 33,120.659 kW will be deemed to be compliant, even if it is 5KW below the pre-maintenance reading.

Explanation:
if we do an experiment say or we calculate in numerical mathematics the solution to within a machine mantissa (nowadays it's 10 digits) then the machine cannot determine a solution with more than 10 significant digits. so we say that the solution obtained complies with to within the measuring precision of the machine used in the calculation
