French to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Engineering (general) / Container cranes/rope-towed trolley
French term or phrase: câblette de liaison de pied de boucle
This term occurs in a spec for a container gantry crane, in the section relating to a "guirlande", which I'm assuming to be the festoon cable supplying power to the operator's cabin on the trolley (cf. http://www.liftech.net/LiftechPublications/machtrly.pdf).

In this subsection headed "Guirlande et rail de guirlande", it says:
"Toute installation de matériel non conforme au matériel du fournisseur est proscrit (ex : câblette de liaison de pied de boucle, etc.)".

Very few ghits for "pied de boucle". Any ideas, anyone?

English translation:festoon-bottom tie cable
Explanation:
Pure invention. Not that I see what the bottom of the festoon loop would be attached to ...
And I am only assuming that "pied" is the bottom of the hanging loop, not the top.

I've asked my client to seek further clarification, but I'm doubtful of getting any, so I'll settle for this and leave it as odd-sounding in the English as the French! Thanks!
