Hi not sure what *Billes de manutention fortes charges à platine* means it is in the context of an electric hoist see http://www.manutan.fr/palan-dccom20-2000kg-4m-400v-ifc-lev-c...

also found this site in English http://www.demag-us.com/Product/hoist/DC/Hoist_Chain.htm but still don't know what the French is saying.

fortes charges = heavy-duty (attrib. adj.) (literally: heavy loads)
à platine = plate-mount(ed), flange-mount(ed)

The literal meaning of French "bille" (English "log") is a [cylindrical-shaped] "roller" [bearing]. Evidently, in industrial usage this literal meaning is extended to include spherical-shaped bearings also.

agree  xxxBourth: Of course "bille" is also "marble" (the game), and "roulement à billes" is a ball bearing. Congrats for not moaning like me!
