French to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Engineering (general) / Pipeline project tender
French term or phrase: toutes passes en ligne, y compris première et deuxième passes.
Context:

"La qualification est valable pour l'un des types suivants:

1 toutes passes en ligne, y compris première et deuxième passes.
2 bourrage et finition en ligne (à partir de la troisième passe)
3....."

Il s'agit des qualifications du soudeur éventuellement employé pour effectuer des soudures sur un gazoduc.

Je pense qu'il s'agit de soudures en plusieurs étapes.

J'ai besoin du lexique approprié.

Merci d'avance.

English translation:all passes in line, including 1st & 2nd passes
Explanation:
More context would help hone it, but "pass" or "weld pass" is OK.

weld pass - A single progression of welding along a joint. The result of a pass is a weld bead or layer.
[Standard Welding Terms and Definitions, American Welding Society]

There are a variety of "weld pass sequences":
e.g. "longitudinal sequence. The order in which the weld passes of a continuous weld are made with respect to its length"
There are also backstep sequence, block sequence, cascade sequence, continuous sequence, and random sequence.

"cross-sectional sequence. The order in which the weld passes of a multiple-pass weld are made with respect to the cross-section of the weld."

Not sure what "en ligne" is getting at.

Thank you, I think in line is great, "en ligne" could mean effectuated on site, and in that case you can also say "in-line".
