disagree  Bourth (X): The body would be the casting without its internals (valve, spindle, handle, stuffing, etc.)//Yeah, well, I'm working on it. Unfortunately I have things like clients to see to too.

-> If you don't like the word "body" you could use a word like "unit". Perhaps you could suggest something better?

agree  Craig Macdonald: I like "faucet unit" in this case

agree  Frank Foley: Don't see a pb with "body": my body includes all my internals. :-)

neutral  Michael Davies: faucet is a US (and Canada?) English term for 'tap' (British English)

Explanation:
or water tap, the proper part without any bushings, sleeves, sockets or couplings.

J'interprète la "cellule" comme croquis principal, avoisnié par des autres croquis, montrants les diverses manchons et embouts.

tap vs tap assembly

Explanation:
Turn it round so your "robinet" is a "tap assembly". Then your "cellule" can be a "tap" (or whichever word suits your target language variant).

Actually I think tap/valve assembly would normally be the tap/valve body plus its internals. Things like its tail connection system would be separate. I think the manner of dividing this valve into "cellule" and "robinet" is wholly artificial. It would be more "English" in my opinion to have:
- tap body (the empty "hull" which receives washer, spindle and bonnet)
- tap assembly (all the above)
- tap assembly with auxiliaries, or "complete tap assembly" (tap assy, complete) (all the above plus connecting systems).

On modern taps you will be able to get to the washer which will be attached to a SPINDLE THAT GOES INTO THE TAP BODY. On older style taps you will first ...
