enclosed protective housing

Explanation:

"Casing" or "enclosure" may also work, depending on the context. My second reference below point to the site of a manufacturer of "carter de protection." Also, a search for images of "cartérisation:" on google.fr will bring up a bunch of pictures of protective housings, casings, etc.

interlocked housing

Explanation:
If you're afraid this might be confused with the Lego house you built with your children this morning, you might prefer to call it "interlocked enclosure".

"Housing" or "enclosure" suggests something that is permanently in place around a machine or parts thereof (except for maintenance purposes, etc.).

To me, "guard" suggests a device that can be moved aside, for placing a part in a machine for instance, during which time the machine is disabled, and which re-enables the machine when it is put back in place, when it also prevents hand access to the "sharp end" of the machine. Meanwhile all the gubbinses that drive the machine (belts, gears, etc.) are enclosed, permanently, in a housing/enclosure.
