security flange
Explanation:
All B and C units feature large door access to interior. (Doors swing at least 150°). Doors are protected by a fully reinforced framework. Continuously welded security flange will prevent door removal during burglary attack. Three 1" chromed steel locking bolts enhance the security of these models. Handles are designed to shear off under attack. Adjustable shelf stripping and 1 or 2 shelves (see table) are standard features.

disagree  xxxBourth: In the Asker's context, I think it is clear we are talking safety (no lost fingers), not security (no stolen diamond rings). Mind you, if you lose your fingers, who needs rings?

-> sorry but we translated a technical manual for a very important thermodynamic company worlwide, and the 'security flange' of the turbine was effectively a ... 'boudin de sécurité'. So I don't see why translating from FR into EN it won't be the same !!!

safety (coil) spring

Explanation:
'Boudin' is occasionally used to mean a coil-type spring; I don't quite see how this would fit in your context, but mqybe it's some help?

soft edging???

Explanation:
Could it be a foam edge to the screen so that quite apart from people getting their fingers caught in the working mechanism, they won't hurt their fingers if they slam the screen shut on them???

Given the reference to \"joint boudin de sécurité\" and \"relay\" in the follwing text, I distinctly get the impression it is indeed a soft seal of some sort (in the case with relays, with an automatic cutoff system)
<<Relais de sécurité
Relais de sécurité pour:
• Grille
• Porte
• Joints en boudin de sécurité
• Dispositif de commande à pied
• Machine E/S>>

You\'ll also find a picture of a \"joint boudin\" (hollow rubber seal) at http://www.alpal.fr/htfr/0006.htm which states <<Pour parfaire les qualités d\'isolation phonique ou thermiqe de votre volet, il est équipé d\'un joint boudin sur la dernière lame>>
