that a "boutoir" is a "stopping device, stop[per]" in respect of "lam" (laminage = metal rolling/forming I guess), "paring knife" in the field of "tan" (tannerie = tanning), and "cartridge ejector" for "fusil" (guns), I suspect they mean "butoir": "butoir de clapet" = "valve guard" [Ernst]
