Tech/Engineering - Engineering (general) / Equipment testing
French term or phrase: balancier
Impact resistance testing.
The device being tested is attached by one of its connections to a 500 mm long line and released from an angle of 60° such that it collides with a 25 kg steel weight.
"Swing test" doesn't produce any relevant hits on Google. Any offers?

From the decxription of one of the testers on the reference site: \"The Tensile-in-Head test calls for mounting the specimen to the pendulum, while in the Tensile-in-Base test the specimen is mounted horizontally with one end in the vise and the other on the resting support.\"

(Fixed post and swinging arm??)
Not sure how you have "balancier" here but here are some suggestions...

Swinging arm impact tester
swinging arm(pendular system) (or balance beam)
Hope the pictures help :-)

(Also, rams in pendular systems)....

For addendum:
If \"balancier\" is a term used to describe the impact tester, pendular system ( or pendulum as David says)should be fine. However, if it\'s a reference to the part you describe, it\'s a swinging arm.
