Tech/Engineering - Environment & Ecology / coastal erosion
French term or phrase: boudin
"implantation au large de la côte de boudins atténuateurs de houles"

This is some kind of breakwater. I don't know if boudin has a specific English equivalent in this context. They seem to be referring to some kind of geotextile tubing, but I don't want to be too specific since I only gathered this from my own research. Any ideas?

Many thanks!

Explanation:
The beach I refer to below actually uses this for coastal protection on the shore and not out at sea. The "boudin" runs the full length of the beach. So there is only one! However in your context they are further out to sea. Maybe they form an artificial reef as here

Asker: These particular 'boudins' are to be used to dissipate swell energy in order to prevent coastal erosion. From what I can gather they are also supposed to be invisible on the surface.

agree Miranda Joubioux: A beach near us has one. It's a very costly operation, that in my opinion is not really that effective!
