French term or phrase: temps comptable
Hello,
Having real problems understanding the following which comes from a speech on the role of higher education in sustainable development.
Comment passer du temps comptable qui ne prend pas en compte la durée et la durabilité d'une entreprise à un temps qui prenne en compte le long terme?

Explanation:
From the context, it doesn't sound to me like you need to literally translate the concept of "temps": I read it as talking about moving from a system based on accounts, financial results, etc. typical of modern-day capitalism to a system that takes long-term factors into account (like the planet exploding because of the company's activities.....;-)

Explanation:
"How to go from the accountable time which does not take into account the length and durability of a company at a time which takes into account the long term?"

Further clarification may well be needed.

neutral  Karen Stokes: I think you need to get away from a literal translation here - not sure that "accountable time" is very meaningful, nor that a company has "length".
