French term or phrase: gaines intérieures — V.O. notamment
In a description of the process of cleaning out pipework using the introduction of bacteria. Context:
"Ensemencement des bactéries :
- Acheminement du tuyau d’ensemencement sur la toiture en essayant d’utiliser des **gaines intérieures — V.O. notamment** — pour des raisons de sécurité et de praticité.
- Le technicien A se positionne en terrasse et libère l’accès aux évents des colonnes EU et EV.
- Le technicien B gère la mise en route des pompes depuis le véhicule Laboratoire Mobile d’Intervention (LMI). ... etc."
What would "gaines intérieures" be here, please, and what is "V.O."? I imagine that they are wanting to get the pipe to intriduce the bacteria onto the roof (?) by passing it up through internal pipes that are already there? Any help gratefully received.

VO could be "vide ordures". Bit of an educated guess really. Although they're no longer allowed to be used (or so I believe), the shafts are probably still there in older apartment blocks.

Explanation:
