With respect to the procedure which a company must following when disposing of waste, an approval document issued by the local Préfecture states that 'Les eaux de lavage du sol sont stockées dans des conditionnements appropriés *placés sur rétention* dans les conditions définies ....'

It seems to me there should be a comma after "appropries", the sencence structure seems to be that of an enumeration. However, I think the translation I suggested works anyway.

Note to reference poster

Asker: I'm very sorry if you feel that I have wasted your time but I systematically do a search for terms before posting a question. In this instance, I searched for "placé sur rétention" and "placer sur rétention". Not being a technical translator myself - hence why I posted the question in the first place - I cannot be expected to know all possible variations of such a specific term. Thanks however for taking the time to help me on this. I will definitely take the reference you provide into consideration.
