French term or phrase: Métiers et Environnement
This is from terms of reference for environmental reporting, in particular the duties of persons responsible for data collection.

Here's the context: "Par sa connaissance opérationnelle des problématiques Métiers et Environnement et par ses remarques, il permet l’amélioration qualitative du Reporting"

"Métiers et environnement" occurs widely as a concept (e.g. in job offers) but I can't find the English equivalent.

As in, "professional and environmental issues".

"Métier" can be translated in many different ways, it tends to be context-specific; here I think it's just saying that the person is fully aware of issues related to business and to the environment. If it seems to be more specific to a given company, for instance, you could use "sector and environmental" (i.e. if the person is meant to be familiar with the issues specific to the company's different sectors).

neutral  philgoddard: I can see where you get this from, but "métier" means "trade" in the sense of, for example, the building trades. I don't think it works in this context, where it wrongly implies "commerce".

agree  philgoddard: I don't agree with "professional", which implies things like career development and ethics. But I do think "sector and environmental" is the right idea, and you could combine them and say "environmental sector".

  -> Thanks Phil. I see what you mean about "professional", but I don't think "environmental sector" would work, surely you have to keep the sense of 2 different types of issues?

Explanation:
I wonder if it could it simply be “jobs and environment” referring to jobs related to environmental business such as: Agent/e technique de l’environnement, Conseiller en agriculture durable,... and the person who is in charge of the report should have knowledge about these jobs!
