French term or phrase: le toit de la nappe
Context:

Le réservoir "zone racinaire et surfacique" simule les écoulements de sub-surface et de surface.

Il est le lien à proprement dit entre la surface et ***le toit de la nappe***, permet la recharge de cette nappe par l’infiltration lors des précipitations et l’assèchement de celle-ci par évapotranspiration.

I know what "nappe" is, but suspect that "toit de la nappe" has a specific term that I don't know.

Any help much appreciated.
