French term or phrase: comme toutes actions qu'il aura acquises ultérieurement
In the Board of Directors by-laws for a French company, in the section where they talk about the obligations of the directors:

"[chaque administrateur] est actionnaire de la Société à titre personnel et, à ce titre détient au minimum 100 actions inscrites au nominatif, **comme toutes actions qu'il aura acquises ultérieurement.**"

Does this mean that the director can acquire only registered shares (vs. bearer shares) after he/she becomes a director?

Any suggestions for phrasing this?

Target: American English
Pavlovna
in addition to whatever shares he/she subsequently acquires
Explanation:
My understanding is that there is a requirement to hold a minimum of 100 registered shares, but the director are free to hold whatever shares they want to above this minimum.

(Note: I'm UK English but don't think this changes much.)

Pavlovna, I think you're right that there is an ambiguity - I've simply given the interpretation that seems most obvious to me. Having read the original text again, I don't think there's any way that you can remove the ambiguity. I would suggest that you perhaps need to refer to the client and ask them to clarify?

Notes to answerer
Asker: I still have a doubt on this one, despite all the peer agreement, because I found the following passage online in the English version of France Télécom's bylaws: "The members of the board of directors shall register any France Telecom shares of the company they hold at the time they are appointed to the board, as well as any shares acquired during their tenure as board members." I haven't been able to find the French version of this document, even on the FT site, but here is a link for the English: www.francetelecom.com/.../management/directors/att00018526/Reglement_interieur_FT_version_anglaise.pdf

agree  Sarah Walls: or "and any shares he or she subsequently acquires".

-> Thanks, Sarah - I like your wording, though would perhaps keep "in addition to" - emphasises that it's talking about shares held over and above the minimum requirement.
