French to English translations [PRO]
Bus/Financial - Finance (general)
French term or phrase: arrérages
Pour un tel contrat, en cas de sortie en rente, l'ensemble des arrérages (versement + intérêts) est soumis aux impôts et prélèvements sociaux, alors que seuls les intérêts sont imposés dans le cas d'une sortie en capital (et que ces intérêts ont déjà subi les prélèvements sociaux au fil de l'eau).

My translation:
For such a policy, if it is converted to annuity, the whole sum of arrears of income (deposits + interest) is subject to prélèvements sociaux* (social deductions) while only the interest is taxed in the case of capital lump sum withdrawals (and this interest has already been subject to prélèvements sociaux* (social deductions) while the policy is in force).
I am not sure I made the right decision here.

Oh yes, and "prélèvements sociaux" are NICs - National Insurance Contributions in UK tax. Widely used in The Economist magazine and in tax declarations, to cite just two.
