Bus/Financial - Finance (general) / Delegation Agreement
French term or phrase: "conservateur des Espèces" and "dépositaire"
Hi,

I am translating a delegation agreement for maintenance of accounts for futures traded on regulated markets (Convention de délégation de tenue de compte d’instruments financiers à terme négociés sur Marchés réglementés) and I am confused about the difference between a "dépositaire" which I understand is translated as "Custodian" or "Depositary" and "conservateur" or "conservation" which I have found translated as "custody" at times.

Here is a sentence to give more context for "conservateur des Espèces"

cash custodian vs. (securities) custodian
Explanation:
"Cash custodian" is the term for the first. For the second, avoid "depositary" (and save "depository" for dépositaire central). Compensateur is "clearer", and tenue de compte is "account keeping", per the AMF.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks for your answer - a great help. However all is not altogether clear. Looking at the same term further down the document, how would you translate "conservateur" here: le Dépositaire, ou à la personne à laquelle le Dépositaire aura délégué ce contrôle, à exercer un contrôle sur l'activité de conservateur déléguée au Compensateur
