En termes de positionnement, si nous recommandions les marchés européens au début de 2005, les marchés anglo-saxons offrent des perspectives meilleures cette année, principalement du fait de leur avance en matière de cycle économique et monétaire. Un positionnement de type barbell, en privilégiant les parties frontale et très longue se justifie toujours en Europe (zone euro et Suisse) et au Canada, dans un contexte de poursuite du resserrement monétaire, alors qu’un positionnement sur les segments intermédiaires prendra tout son sens sur les marchés anglo-saxons (Royaume-Uni et Australie, dès maintenant, Etats-Unis dans une deuxième phase). Du côté crédit, si nous considérons toujours qu’il existe certaines poches de valeur (Europe convergente, certains marchés émergents), nous recommandons de maintenir un profil prudent. Il nous faudra faire preuve de flexibilité et d’opportunisme dans un monde où le risque nous semble plus que jamais sous-estim

If you think of it, a barbell has weights at each extremity - so I suppose that is the analogy. At the each extreme but not in the middle.
