I suspect that the reason that nothing in the glossary sees right is that soem solutions are adaptations of what is a catch-all term which you can get away with sometimes on one language and yet not in another. Information sheet could be anything : a form to fill in, a detailed set of terms and conditions, a plan of a site. Either keep it general with information document or something similar or ask the client what it actually is so that you can attribute a descriptive term.

It's one of those where without more context we can only play at a guessing games. From what you indicate, you too are in that position already yet with the global context. One of those where I woudl be tempted to say, if you don't know, then there is less chance that we will, meant in the nicest possible way! ;-)

I think the client would laugh at you if you asked for a translation of "document d'information". I don't see how it can be anything but "information document" (even though this is strictly speaking a tautology).

may be OK for Canada, but definitely not for UK!! Never heard of such a word!

But it is not the only choice. For instance, the Bank of Canada uses "backgrounders." :-|
If it can't be discerned from the context, I would ask the client if they already have a English term for these.
