French to English translations [PRO]
Fisheries / variety of tomato | | French term or phrase: loup vs. bar | I'm translating this for a cook book.
From the book's glossary of terms:
Bar quand il est pêché en Bretagne, il devient loup en Méditerranée.
In a recipe:
Si vous ne trouvez pas de bar, prenez du loup.
These are just one in the same fish but just called 2 different things depending on where they are caught, right?
Bar = Atlantic Sea Bass ??
and
Loup = just "Sea Bass" ??
I think I'm going to stop by the poissonerie on my way home tonight but maybe you have some thoughts, too...

En France, il y a deux noms différents pour ce même poisson. Deux noms, mais un seul poisson (comme le dit votre déf "il _devient") ! En anglais, il n'y a qu'un seul nom => Il faut omettre ce commentaire qui est inutile en anglais !!! |
