French to English translations [PRO]

French term or phrase: os du bras
I'm trying to translate a document written in 1835 and they are describing Lampris, the use the term "os du bras" in the description. Does this simply translate as "bones of the hand"? Or is this some special expression that is escaping me?

Reference information:
One of the leading experts on fish/ichthyology in the 19th century was Louis Agassiz who was Swiss. I think he wrote in French, and much of his work is translated. He was a student of Georges Cuvier, who was French.
You might be able to find some work from one of them, and the English translation from that period; or at least get more context for the idea.
