Fisheries
French term or phrase: la pêche aux arts dormants
I know what this is, but not being a fisherman, I just can't find the right expression in English. This technique is defined as "Une technique utilisant des engins de pêche immobiles (ex : casiers, palangres…)", ie fishing for lobsters, crabs, and anything not requiring motion where you just lower a pot and collect it later. "Crab/lobster fishing" seems too specific.

"However, as small boat, passive gear fishing claims to be more selective and ecologically less damaging [18,19], this management system can be considered as ‘invisible’ or ‘indirect’ resource management."

"The fishing fleet consisted of sailing vessels and steam vessels. Since the beginning of the available time series (early 1930‟s), the vessels mainly used passive fishing gears but later on also otter trawl nets."

"Given the worrying levels of some fish stocks and the economic and social difficulties within the fisheries sector, the reduction in fishing effort for the period 1993-96 has been fixed at 20% for demersal stocks (round fish: cod, haddock, etc.), 15% for benthic stocks (flatfish: sole, etc.) and 0% for pelagic stocks (passive gear). "
