French to English translations [PRO] Forestry / Wood / Timber / wood manufacturing | | French term or phrase: boissellerie | | We know what this industry makes (all sorts of wooden objects from barrels to cheese boxes, poles and carts) but what is it called in English as an inustry or sector? All help appreciated! Woodworking doesn't seem to cover it. |
| | Clarification request(s) and responseTony M: 9:51am Oct 2, 2007: I have come up against this problem several times before, and never really found one single satisfactory solution. I have usually found an explanation is the best way out... French2English: 10:11am Oct 2, 2007: Well, my Harraps (which you've probably checked!) says: 'bushel making' for boissellerie' ! Never quite sure what a bushel is - thought it was an oldey worldey measurement of some sort... but anyway, just thought I'd drop you a line! Patrick and Carol Collins: 10:21am Oct 2, 2007: Bushel - I remember my parents buying a bushel of apples every fall in the Niagra Peninsula - its apparently bulk measurement equalling 35.24 litres ;-) It held a lot of apples. But, those wooded bushels would certainly be made by the boissellerie industy! Thanks for your help! PS they were lovely apples too!

| Note from asker to answererHey, we like this, thanks. We shall just add sector. It is a tossup between this and the woodworking sector, both are good. 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |
