Tech/Engineering - Geography / sand dunes
French term or phrase: Cordon de correction
This paragraph in a piece about beaches on the Ile d'Oléron, mentions how sand dunes have been stabilised over the years by building palisades spaced a few metres apart, building them up to a height of 10m, adding 'cordons de correction' at each level to widen the base of the dune.
What might we call them please - thank you!

English translation:corrective sand trap
Explanation:
Make it fit the diagram

Although you could play around with the cordon de dunes -> string of dunes idea I can't see how you can get it to fit with the notion of correction. I did think of the word 'realignment' but from what I can see this is the opposite of this scheme insofar as it allows the dunes to migrate naturally inland. I would be inclined to call it a 'sand trap' or some such expression concentrating on how it works rather than its ultimate function. Maybe add the word corrective.

Unfortunately in US English, sand trap also means a golf bunker, but I don't think that necessarily rules out the idea.
